A Classroom in the Clay

The first school day didn’t start in a building. It started in the dirt—with five kids, a Bible, and a piece of chalk.

There were no walls, desks, or uniforms. Just faith. And a longing to learn. Every day, the children returned. And every day, God met them there.

When Obedience Comes First

We didn’t wait for funding.
We didn’t wait for a proper classroom or curriculum.

We started because God asked us to.

That first lesson was taught under a tree, on red clay soil. One Bible was shared. A tarp shielded them from sun and rain. The chalkboard leaned against a stone.

But those first five children learned how to read by sounding out Scripture.

And they kept coming.

Why Education Is Spiritual

In communities where education is often delayed or denied, learning becomes more than knowledge—it becomes hope.

Our children aren’t just memorizing verses and math tables. They’re learning how to think, how to ask questions, and how to believe that their story isn’t over.

Faith and education aren’t separate at Nani’s Kids.
Every class opens with prayer. Every lesson connects back to God’s truth. Every teacher speaks identity into children who were once told they’d never succeed.

How It’s Grown

Thanks to generous support, what started as clay and chalk has grown into a vibrant education ministry:

  • Local certified teachers who believe in the mission

  • Scripture-based curriculum that nurtures both heart and mind

  • Classrooms equipped with tables, chairs, and learning supplies

  • Bibles for every child, with personal journaling time

  • Over 30 students on a waiting list—and growing

But the most powerful transformation isn’t academic—it’s spiritual. We’ve seen children come to Christ through phonics lessons and math devotions. We’ve seen joy break through frustration. We’ve seen purpose bloom where trauma once lived.
